NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament Singles Bracket
(Tulsa, OK) - San Francisco's No. 80 Jennifer-Lee Heinser qualified for the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament after going 21-3 as a freshman. The reigning West Coast Conference Player and Freshman of the Year will face No. 1 seed Aurelija Miseviciute (26-1), a sophomore from Arkansas, at 2:30 on Wednesday, May 21 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa. Heinser is the first USF Women's Tennis player to ever qualify for the tournament and Head Coach Hilary Somers had this to say about the accomplishment. "I am so excited for Jenni. It gave me chills when I saw her name on the list," Somers said. "This is the first time we've ever had a player represent the University of San Francisco in the NCAA's or even be close to qualifying for it. It is an incredible accomplishment and honor for her to be the only player in the West Coast Conference selected to play against the national elite." Heinser took out four ranked opponents on her way to NCAA selection, including No. 61 Elizabeth Ferris (University of Utah) 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 (1/27/08), No. 76 Celine Rolly (University of Oregon) 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (1/28/08), and No. 87 Paula Mesterova (Loyola Marymount) 7-6, 6-1 (3/2/08) and 6-3, 6-3 (4/1/08). "I feel Jenni is very deserving. She had such an amazing season with just one loss in singles competition. When she came here, she said her goal is to win the NCAA's, so hopefully this can be the first stepping stone to accomplishing her dreams," Somers said. Live scoring and streaming video will be available, but links are not available at this time.
