The USF Cross County/Track and Field team, along with the USF MBA program hosted the 8th annual Tom Caruso Memorial Run this morning, an event that helps raise money for both athletic teams and an MBA Scholarship set-up in Tom Caruso's honor. Tom Caruso was a graduate of Saint Ignatius High School in San Francisco and got his MBA from USF after getting his undergraduate degree at St. Mary's. An avid runner, Caruso was training for the Olympic Trials in Las Vegas when he was tragically killed when he was struck by a cab. This year 300 participants turned out to help keep Tom Caruso's name alive and to help raise money for every program involved. "We had the largest turnout ever for the event," said Meet Director Eric Flemming. "It's always great to see so many people pledge their money and time to an event that helps honor a man who loved running so much." One hundred of the 300 hundred runners were USF athletes from the baseball, men's and women's soccer teams and women's golf team, along with numerous USF students and staff members.
