For the first time in USF Track and Field history the Dons will have athletes competing in the NCAA West Regional meet this Friday night at Matador Track Complex in Northridge, CA.

Making history for the Dons will be junior Alex Nelson, who will compete in the prelims of the men's 1500m Friday night and senior Jennifer Hartford, who will compete in the women's 5000m finals on Friday evening as well.

Nelson, who holds the school records in the 800m and 1500m, qualified for the Regional meet at the Willamette Last Chance Meet two weeks ago by running a 3:47.78, barely getting under the qualifying time of 3:47.80. Hartford became the first Track and Field athlete to qualify for the Regional competition at Stanford this season when she ran a 16:49.59, shattering her previous personal best at time by over 27 seconds.
